"WE WERE THERE"
THE PIPERETTES Memories…………. “Precious memories, how they linger, how they ever flood my soul “ Memories have lingered, flourished, and indelibly influenced the lives of these four women. Each were on an individual journey, when their paths crossed at Operation Breadbaskets “Meeting”. Saturday morning “Meeting” was a church style civil rights rally. In Chicago, Operation Breadbasket was the economic arm of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. It was led by the charismatic Country Preacher, Rev. Jesse Jackson. It became the headquarters for anyone across the country that needed his expertise in organizing marches, sit-ins, rallies, union strikes, and political races. And these ladies were there. Four young singers who were just coming of age, assumed their positions. The music of the movement was their passion and love. They knew, they were a part of history. Their rich collective experiences have provided them with many stories. Stories that range from funny, to tragic, and everything in between. Named after the great band leader Ben Branch, who was dubbed the “Pied Piper Of Freedom” by Dr. King himself. Dolores Scott, Patti Henley, Sue Conway, and Brenda Lee Eager, have reunited, and invite you to take a stroll down memory lane in the stage play "WE WERE THERE" Please welcome The Piperettes Of Freedom
